Analysis
The City is requesting $600,000 installation of a shade structure and landscape improvements at Veteran’s Memorial Park. Veteran’s memorial park is used on Memorial and Veteran day to hold events to honor military services veterans.
The shade structure will be designed in the shape of a star. The star will be place on top of the five service memorial columns. This will provide a covered area for our aging veterans and improve the visual appearance of the park. Additional landscape improvements will also be added This improvement completes the project as envisioned by Council Member Ruthe Jackson.
Financial Consideration
The Sports Corp Fund currently has an uncommitted balance of $9,855,846.09. Other requests for $2,000,000 and for $800,000 have been submitted, which, if approved, would leave an uncommitted balance of $7,055,846.09. If approved, the $600,000 transfer to the City’s Park Venue Fund would result in a remaining Sports Corp balance of $6,455,846.09.

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE TRANSFER OF $600,000 TO THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE.
WHEREAS, the Grand Prairie Sports Facilities Development Corporation, Inc. (the “Corporation”) has determined that the Corporation has sufficient resources to cover the current fiscal year expenditures and a surplus of at least $600,000; desires to contribute certain monies to the City of Grand Prairie for Splash Factory Improvements
Now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the Board of Directors approves the transfer of $600,000 operating surplus to the City of Grand Prairie for Veteran’s Memorial park; and be it further
