Analysis
The Lake Parks Division is looking to purchase two Yurts for Loyd Park. The Yurts are 24’ in diameter with insulated walls and ceiling. Each Yurt will be fully furnished and have a restroom, kitchen, heating / air conditioning, and a deck. These Yurts come in a ready to assemble kit and two sites have been selected for installation. We are waiting for final approval from the US Army Corps of Engineers to begin installation. This is a test of the “Glamping” themed area, and if successful we will be adding more to our inventory.
Notice of bid #20004 was advertised and distributed to 23 vendors. There were no Grand Prairie vendors available for this commodity. Two bids were received as shown on attachment A.
The low bid received from Freedom Yurt Cabins meets specifications and is recommended for award.
Assembly and installation will be through Home Depot’s Omnia Partners cooperative contract. Furniture and fixtures will be purchased through standard bid laws.
This item was presented to the Finance and Government Committee on November 5, 2019 for their recommendation and approval.
Financial Consideration
Funding for two prefabricated Yurt cabins and installation in the amount of $180,000 is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating $180,000 from the unobligated fund balance in the Lake Parks Capital Project Fund (318793) to WO #02013703 (Lake Parks Yurts).
