Analysis
In FY19, Grand Prairie Animal Services received over 3,700 strayed or unwanted dogs. The central kennel area was excluded from Phase I of the Prairie Paws Adoption Center renovation and contains dog kennels from the original 2003 construct. In numerous areas, bars/hinges are bent or missing and replacement parts are unavailable for repair. Guillotine doors connecting kennels are non-functional, reducing the flexibility of the shelter's capacity and lack of visual barriers promote cross contamination and kennel anxiety. This kennel renovation will increase aesthetic appeal of kennels to be more in line with expanded areas for customers while promoting the physical health and mental well-being of our substantial canine population.
Notice of bid #20014 was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram and Bid Sync; it was viewed by 24 vendors. There were no Grand Prairie vendors available. One response was received as shown on attachment A.
The sole response is recommended for award.
