Analysis
The City of Grand Prairie Solid Waste and Recycling Division applied for a Solid Waste Grant through the North Central Texas Council of Governments early in the 2018/2019 funding biennium. The resolution (4939-2018) allowing the application to proceed appeared on the March 6, 2018 City Council Agenda as item #18-7643. The application was successful and has provided for recycling bins, that have been furnished to Grand Prairie schools along with a large-scale campaign to reduce single-use plastics.
As this funding cycle was drawing to a close, the Council of Governments had additional funding to disperse and has selected Grand Prairie's project as an eligible recipient. On the September 3, 2019 City Council Agenda, Item #19-9284 provided for ratification of this amendment and a resolution amending the original resolution 4939-2018, providing an additional $1,150.01 for the project.
At this time, the Council of Governments has an additional $937.66 available for this project. Therefore, ratification of this amendment and resolution amending the resolution 4939-2018 will provide an additional $937.66 for this project, bringing the project funding total to $51,112.67.
Financial Consideration
This is a reimbursement grant. The additional $937.66 is available in the approved FY 2019/2020 Solid Waste Operating Budget.
