Analysis
Don Postell, current City Attorney, is retiring effective January 31, 2018. City Charter Article IV, Section 35 states that the City Manager shall appoint a City Attorney with the advice and consent of the City Council. As such, this action confirms the City Manager’s appointment of Megan Mahan to be the new City Attorney, to be effective February 1, 2018.
Financial Consideration
Salary is included in the FY 2017/18 General Fund Operating Budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF MEGAN MAHAN AS CITY ATTORNEY OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE
Whereas, Donald R. Postell, City Attorney, has announced his retirement effective January 31, 2018;
Whereas, the City Manager hereby appoints attorney Megan Mahan as City Attorney effective February 1, 2018;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas that:
Section 1. That the City Council hereby confirms the appointment of Mrs. Megan Mahan as City Attorney for the City of Grand Prairie and shall hold this office at the will and pleasure of the City Manager and City Council.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be of force effective February 1, 2018 and upon its passage in accordance with the Charter of the City of Grand Prairie and it is accordingly so resolved.
