Analysis
After 12 months of evaluating property in the industrial district to relocate fire station 4, staff used consultants and decided to rebuild fire station 4 on site. During construction we will move Fire Engine 4 to Fire Station 8 (Roy Orr) and Ambulance 4 to Fire Station 6 (Ferndale near SGPHS). Strategies of staging and posting will be used throughout construction to maintain a presence in the fire station 4 district. Prior to moving all staff and apparatus, we will construct an additional ambulance bay at fire station 6 with an attached small addition to house staff. Fire Station 6 district is one of the busiest medical responses within our city and an ambulance will be moved to fire station 6 on a permanent basis when these two projects are concluded.
Financial Consideration
No financial considerations are needed as the funding of $5.5 Million is budgeted in the current CIP.
