Analysis
Staff received notification from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) regarding 40 MPH speed limit for the nearly completed EB IH 30 frontage road from NW 7th Street to Belt Line Road.
City ordinance will establish the enforceable speed of the frontage road, and once the construction is complete, TxDOT will conduct a full speed study under new traffic conditions and submit any
recommended changes to the speed limit that may be necessary.

TxDOT has committed to furnishing and installing the speed limit signs upon receipt of the City of Grand Prairie signed ordinance establishing the frontage road to be 40 mph.

Financial Consideration
The new EB frontage road will be signed by TxDOT and the City will incur no costs associated with posting the newly established speed limit.
