Analysis
On November 16, 2015 a major crack was discovered in the southern landfill levee as a result of cumulative excessive rainfall events of 2015. This structure is a necessary infrastructure component to the landfill facility, which must be maintained. Permission for emergency levee repair was obtained by CMO on November 17, 2015.
Three purchase orders were issued for 1) Geotechnical Testing, Engineering Evaluation, Surveying, Construction Quality Assurance and Report Preparation in the amount of $16,300 to Weaver Consultants Group, LLC, 2) soil excavation and removal, subgrade preparation, compacted clay liner placement, sideslope grading, seeding and road resurfacing to L.D. Kemp Excavating, Inc. in the amount of $60,540 and 3) 24” Pipe, Coupling and Tee to Fortiline Waterworks in the amount of $4,069.19
All work for this project was completed December 15, 2015.
Financial Consideration
Funding for southern landfill levee repair is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating $80,910 from the unobligated fund balance in the Capital Projects Fund (502792) to WO #01610603 (Southern Levee Repair).

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE FY 2015/2016 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS BUDGET BY TRANSFERRING AND APPROPRIATING $80,910 FROM THE UNOBLIGATED FUND BALANCE IN THE SOLID WASTE CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND (502792) TO WO #01610603 (SOUTHERN LEVEE REPAIR)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the FY 2015/2016 Capital Improvement Projects Budget be amended by transferring and appropriating $80,910 from the unobligated fund balance in the Solid Waste Capital Projects Fund (502792) to WO #01610603 (Southern Levee Repair).
