Analysis
The City of Grand Prairie would like to enter into an agreement with the Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas so that we may conduct Commercial Driver License tests on behalf of the State of Texas.
Financial Consideration
None by this Resolution alone; future purchases made through this agreement will be paid from various Capital or Operating budgets.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
Whereas, the City of Grand Prairie, Texas, recognizes that the Department of Public Safety allows individual entities to administer local Commercial Drivers License (CDL) programs by executing certain approvals and agreeing to several operational and safety procedures; and
Whereas, the City of Grand Prairie, Texas desires to participate in the described Commercial Driver License program, in order to provide more efficient and effective licensing and renewals for its employees and affiliates who are required to maintain their CDL; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grand Prairie, Texas is of the opinion that participation in this program will be highly beneficial to the departmental customers of the fleet services program and as a result, to the taxpayers and rate payers through more efficient operations and potential cost savings;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas that:
Section 1. THAT the Agreement with the Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas is found to be acceptable and in the best interest of the City of Grand Prairie and its citizens and is hereby approved.
Section 2. THAT the City Manager is authorized to execute the agreement hereby approved on behalf of the City and that the Fleet Services Manager or his designee is hereby designated to act for the City of Grand Prairie in all matters relating to Agreement including the designation of specific contracts in which the City of Grand Prairie desires to participate, subject to City Council approval when necessary.
SECTION 3. THAT this resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its passage and approval.
