This project provides for a paved Access to the materials storage bunkers at 620 Small Hill Water Utilities Facility; it also provides for drainage improvements, Security fencing and relocation of a steel building to a new reinforced concrete slab.
On Wednesday May 31, 2017 the City of Grand Prairie received and publicly opened and read Four (4) bids for this project as follows:
North Texas Contracting, Inc. Base Bid Amount: $1,126,567.99 Add alternate: $181,440.50
Quality Excavation, Ltd. Base Bid Amount: $1,296,343.00 Add alternate: $169,012.00
McMahon Contracting, L.P Base Bid Amount: $1,403,300.99 Add alternate: $182,510.16
Fort Worth Civil Constructors, LLC Base Bid Amount: $1,548,128.50 Add alternate: 186,690.00
Additive Alternate bids were submitted for masonry screening fence in lieu of the PVC-Coated chain link fence included in the base bid.
Staff recommends this project be awarded to North Texas Contracting, Inc. in the Base bid amount of $1,126,567.99. Additive alternate bid is not recommended by staff due to un-needed high costs and obstructed views.
Construction of this project is scheduled to start towards the end of July 2017 with scheduled completion at the end of February 2018.
This item was also considered by the City Council Development Committee on July 17, 2017 and the Finance and Government Committee on July 18, 2017.
Financial Consideration
Funding in the total amount of $1,268,944 is available as follows:
1. $993,379 is available in Water Capital Projects Fund (500592) WO #01710303 (Beltline Facility)
2. $275,565 is available by transferring and appropriating from the unobligated fund balance in the Water Capital Projects Fund (500592) to WO #01710303 (Beltline Facility)

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE FY 2016/2017 Capital Improvement Projects Budget be amended by transferring and appropriating $275,565 from the unobligated fund balance in the Water Capital Projects Fund (500592) WO #01710303 (Beltline Facility)
