Analysis

Slurry Seal is an asphalt slurry mixture made from closely graded fine aggregate, emulsified asphalt and water mixed together to form a mortar-like compound.  It is used to coat roadway surfaces to fill reflective cracks and depressions and extends the service life of older roadways.

Micro-Surfacing is similar to slurry seal.  It consists of a manufactured mixture of polymer, aggregates, mineral filler, water and other additives.  It is used to correct surface distresses, surface texture and seals the surface of the roadway preventing weathering of the underlying pavement.  Micro-surfacing also extends the life of older roadways.

Notice of bid# 17041 was viewed by 12 vendors.  There were no Grand Prairie vendors available for this commodity.  Two bids were received as shown on attachment A.

The low bid received from Viking Construction, Inc. meets specifications and is recommended for award.
