Analysis
This request is being initiated by the City of Grand Prairie to assign an official street name to a newly constructed and unnamed roadway.
Once approved, City Staff will notify affected properties and provide an implementation date. On that date, staff will update City records and notify the Postal Services and other agencies to update their records and new street signs will be installed.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, NAMING THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED BUT UNNAMED PUBLIC STREET SEGMENT, GENERALLY RUNNING IN A NORTH/SOUTH DIRECTION APPROXIMATELY 210 FEET AS LOCATED BETWEEN THE INTERSTATE 30 FRONTAGE ROAD AND GIFFORD STREET, AND LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 1,075 FEET EAST OF N. BAGDAD ROAD, AS BURBANK WAY; IN THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, there exists in the City of Grand Prairie, Texas an unnamed public street, as depicted on the attached Exhibit “A”, that runs in a generally north/south direction approximately 210 feet and is located between Interstate 30 East Bound Frontage Road and Gifford Street; and
WHEREAS, none of the addressing of the surrounding properties will be affected by said street naming; and
WHEREAS, this unnamed public street segment is recommended to be named Burbank Way; and
WHEREAS, Notice was given of a public hearing to be held by the City Council of the City of Grand Prairie, Texas, in the City Council Chambers at the Grand Prairie City Hall Complex, 317 W. College Street at 6:30 o'clock P.M. on October 13, 2015 to consider the adoption of an ordinance accepting said new street name, and as all citizens and parties at interest were notified that they would have an opportunity to be heard, such Notice, including the time and place of such hearing, having been given at least fifteen (15) days prior to such hearing by publication in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Fort Worth, Texas, a newspaper of general circulation in such municipality.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That the unnamed segment of public street, running in a generally north/south direction approximately 210 feet and located between the Interstate 30 East Bound Frontage Road and Gifford Street and as shown on the attached Exhibit “A” incorporated herein by reference, shall henceforth be named to Burbank Way.
SECTION 2: That the maps, traffic register, and affected street signs of the City of Grand Prairie shall be changed to reflect the new street name.
SECTION 3: That the City Manager shall direct city staff to communicate this ordinance to the U.S. Postal Service and other agencies to effect the street name change to their respective records.
SECTION 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS THIS 13th DAY OF OCTOBER, 2015.
