Jay Doegey is retiring as City Attorney of the City of Arlington after many years of exemplary service not only to our neighboring city but also to the metroplex, the state and the nation.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, HONORING JAY DOEGEY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS CITY ATTORNEY OF THE CITY OF ARLINGTON

 

Whereas,                     Jay Doegey will be retiring as City Attorney of the City of Arlington having served in that capacity since 1986; and having provided exemplary service not only to our neighboring city, but to the metroplex, the region and the state,  

 

Whereas,                      Jay has advanced the legal profession with his service and leadership having served as President of the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) in 2012 and served as President of the Texas City Attorneys Association (TCAA) in 2008, and

 

WHEREAS,                     Jay received IMLA’s Outstanding National Public Service Award by a Local Government Attorney (1996); was in the initial class of designated  IMLA Local Government Fellows and was recognized in 2012 by IMLA for leading the Arlington City Attorney’s Office in achieving IMLA’s designation for Excellence in Legal Services, and

 

WHEREAS,                     Jay served in the U.S. Navy both on active duty and in the reserves and retired after 23 years as a Captain, and

 

Whereas,                      Jay has been a tireless advocate for cities particularly in the area of utilities; was an incorporator of CAPP and TCAP; currently serves as President of TCAP; and

 

WHEREAS,   Jay is the Chair of the Oncor (Electric) Cities Steering Committee, Co-Chair of the Atmos (Gas) Cities Steering Committee, Treasurer of Texas Coalition of Cities for Utility Issues.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas that:

 

Section 1.  Jay Doegey is hereby Honored for his years of public service and Recognized as a friend and honorary resident of the City of Grand Prairie.

 

PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, ON THIS THE 4TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2014.
