Analysis
This request is being initiated by the City of Grand Prairie to assign an official street name to an unnamed roadway segment that was established following the construction of Lake Ridge Parkway and subsequent roadway reconfiguration of Matthew Road located south of Lake Ridge Parkway.
Once approved, City Staff will notify affected properties and provide an implementation date. On that date, staff will update City records and notify the Postal Services and other agencies to update their records and new street signs will be installed.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS NAMING A DEDICATED PUBLIC STREET IN THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, TO WOODGLEN ROAD, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, there exists in the City of Grand Prairie, Texas a dedicated public street named Matthew Road, as depicted on the attached Exhibit "A", running in a north-south direction and located between N. Bent Tree Trail and Sandalwood Drive; and
WHEREAS, the herein described street name change does not encompass nor affect any named of Matthew Road situated a north-south direction and located between N. Bent Tree Trail and Sandalwood Drive; and
WHEREAS, this segment of Matthew Road, is recommended to be renamed to Woodglen Road; and
WHEREAS, Notice was further given of a public hearing to be held by the City Council of the City of Grand Prairie, Texas, in the City Council chambers at the Grand Prairie City Hall Complex, 317 W. College Street at 6:30 o'clock P.M. on February 3, 2015 to consider the adoption of an ordinance implementing the street name change, and all citizens and parties at interest were notified that they would have an opportunity to be heard, such Notice of the time and place of such hearing having been given at least fifteen (15) days prior to such hearing by publication in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Fort Worth, Texas, a newspaper of general circulation in such municipality.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That the segment of Matthew Road situated and running in a north-south direction and located between N. Bent Tree Trail and Sandalwood Drive as shown on the attached Exhibit "A" incorporated herein by reference, shall henceforth be named to Woodglen Road.
SECTION 2: That the maps, traffic register, and affected street signs of the City of Grand Prairie shall be changed to reflect the new street name.
SECTION 3: That the City Manager shall direct city staff to communicate this ordinance to the U.S. Postal Service and other agencies to effect the street name change to their respective records.
SECTION 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
