Analysis
Staff received a request for a reduced speed school zone on Vera Cruz Drive for Sam Rayburn Elementary. Staff conducted a traffic study and determined that this roadway meets the criteria for a reduced speed school. The new reduced speed school zone is needed to protect pedestrians around the new school. Therefore, staff recommends that a reduced speed school zone be established.
Financial Consideration
The new 20 mph reduced speed school zones will be established using static signs. Any cost associated with these new speed school zones will be paid out of the Street operating budget.
