Title
Ordinance amending Schedule III of the Traffic Register by extending the west end of the existing school zone for Larson Elementary School on Avenue K
Presenter
Sholeh Karimi, P.E., Senior Traffic Engineer
Recommended Action
Approve
Analysis
Larson Elementary, an Arlington ISD school located on Avenue K, currently has children crossing with a crossing guard outside of the existing school zone. Based upon pedestrian counts and a significant number of commercial vehicles that are traveling on Avenue K, the existing school zone needs to be extended approximately 830’ west to include and protect this crossing location.
Financial Consideration
The existing 20 mph reduced speed school zone will be revised by moving the existing flasher and end school zone signs west to the new location. Funding for the costs associated with this adjustment is available in the FY 2015/2016 General Fund Budget, Signs and Markings Maintenance Budget, account 251910-63115.
