Analysis
On February 2, 2016, City Council Approved an Engineering and surveying services contract in the total amount of $545,200 with Kimley-Horn and Associates for Project Development Study and 30 Percent Design of Great Southwest Parkway from IH-20 to Mayfield Road. The project improvements provided for widening the roadway from four lanes to six lanes to help improve traffic circulation on Great Southwest Parkway north of IH-20 to Mayfield Road and would also help the Traders Village traffic.
The current proposed Change Order/Amendment #7 in the total net amount of $0 (zero) provides for increases and decreases associated with the design of the project. The increases are for Traffic impact study, driveway study and traffic counts; Subsurface utility engineering; Meeting with public for driveway coordination; Cathodic Protection Design, and bid phase evaluation services as well as construction phase services in the total positive amount of +$74,500.00. The decreases are for preparing survey, right-of-way and easement documents; Geotechnical work; Wastewater siphon design in the total negative amount of -$74,500.00 resulting in a cumulative amount of $149,000 and net amount of $0 (zero) Dollars requiring City Council approval.
Change Order/Amendment #1 approved by City Council on 8/2/16 16-5869 in the total amount of $689,500 for Phase II design of the design for the preparation of 100% of the construction drawings of the following improvements between IH-20 and Mayfield Road.
Change Order/Amendment #2 approved by City Council on 4/21/17 16-6120 in the total amount of $51,150 for City Fiber Infrastructure design as well as subsurface utility engineering to determine underground utilities associated with this project.
Change Order/Amendment #3 in the total amount of $13,000 provided for the design related to the rehabilitation of an existing 6” and 8” wastewater main along the limits of the project.
Change Order/Amendment #4 approved by City Council in the total amount of $58,929 provided geomorphic evaluation related to erosion mitigation of the existing creek and evaluation recommendations for the increased velocities associated with the removal of the existing culverts and replacement with a bridge. It also included rehabilitation of two deteriorated storm drain outfalls along the creek in the area.
Change Order/Amendment #5 in the total amount of $17,200 provided geomorphic monitoring plan for Prairie Creek between Highway 360 Frontage and Robinson Road.
Change Order/Amendment #6 approved by City Council on 3/6/2018 18-7669 in the total amount of $47,430 provided additional construction phase services associated with shop drawings review, TRA coordination efforts, construction site visits and progress meetings.
With the approval of the current Amendment/Change Order No. 7, the grand total contract will remain $1,422,409.00
On December 12, 2017, the City Council of the City of Grand Prairie awarded the project contract to Tiseo Paving Company. Construction work began on Monday January 29, 2108 with the current Contract completion date of December 30, 2019.

No funding is required for this change order. Funding for this project is provided in Streets Capital Projects Fund (400192) WO #01605701 (GSW Sara Jane/Mayfield)
