Analysis
On May 18, 2015, due to unseasonably heavy rainfall, the landfill upper haul road suffered a landslide on the side slope, which continued to move through December 2015. Repeated attempts at stabilization proved unsuccessful. In March 2016, the City advertised for professional repair of this critical structure and the project was awarded by the Grand Prairie City Council to Gibson Earthworks of Granbury, Texas on May 3, 2016.
The current request is for funds required to pay for additional geotechnical work associated with the project, which will be performed by Alliance Geotechnical Group through an existing price agreement with the Engineering Department.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the geotechnical work in the amount of $8,000 is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating from the unobligated fund balance in the Solid Waste Capital Projects Fund (502792) to WO #01612103 (Upper Haul Road Repair - Landfill).

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE FY 2015/2016 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS BUDGET BY TRANSFERRING AND APPROPRIATING $8,000 FROM THE UNOBLIGATED FUND BALANCE IN THE SOLID WASTE CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND (502792) TO WO #01612103 UPPER HAUL ROAD REPAIR - LANDFILL
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the FY 2015/2016 Capital Improvements Projects Budget be amended by transferring and appropriating $8,000 from the unobligated fund balance in the Solid Waste Capital Projects Fund (502792) to WO#1612103 (Upper Haul Road Repair - Landfill).
