Analysis
On August 15, 2017 the City Council (17-7047) approved the Northwest drainage improvement project at Grand Prairie Municipal Airport to repair and mitigate on-going drainage and erosion problems that are getting dangerously close to Taxiway B and Runway 17. Addressing the problem ensured the safety of flight and taxiing aircraft and provided a safe environment to operate. This project replaces current undersized drainage culverts with two new larger sized drainage culverts, replace a portion of Taxiway B, extend drainage pipes and headwalls to mitigate future erosion, re-grade the open ditches to repair erosion and allow for mowing, and repair two underground storm water pipes on the east side of the runway that connect to the norwest drainage area.
Change Order/Amendment No. 1 approved by the City on November 15, 2017 in the amount of $21,530 allowed for additional stone rip rap with 4' perimeter toe wall with geotextile fabric, dirt work at the detention pond, seeding/erosion blanket and raise fencing. This additional work will repair erosion damage to the existing regional detention pond located at the south end of the airport.
The current Change Order/Amendment No. 2 in the amount of $15,689 allows for recondition/compacted subgrade, 6" reinforced concrete pavement, 8" flexbase and markings for pavement directly associated with the original construction area but not covered in the original scope. This additional work will replace existing damaged concrete pavement on Taxiway Bravo at the Grand Prairie Municipal airport. Additional undermined pavements were discovered during current construction project.

Financial Consideration
Funding in the total amount of $15,689.00 is available by appropriating and transferring from the unobligated fund balance of the Airport Capital Projects Fund (505292) to WO #01600201 (North Creek Encasement)

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE FY 2017/2018 Capital Improvement Projects Budget be amended by transferring and appropriating $15,689.00from the unobligated fund balance in the Airport Capital Projects Fund (505292) to WO #01600201 (North Creek Encasement)
