Analysis

The opening of Fire Station 10 is anticipated in the summer of 2016. The purchase of Quint equipment is a planned project for FY2016 in the Fire Capital Projects Fund WO #0160903 Station 10 Equipment.

The Fire Department currently has Scott Safety SCBA equipment. This equipment is used during fire fighting to provide breathable air to the fire fighters. The City approved a Master Inter-local agreement with the City of Fort Worth whereby the City could make use of all of that entities price agreement(s). The City of Fort Worth entered into a price agreement with MES of Houston, Tx on January 11, 2012, and have exercised the option for additional renewals through January 10, 2016, for SCBA equipment and repairs. It is the Fire Department's recommendation to make a one-time purchase for purchase of Scott Safety SCBA equipment in keeping with continuity of equipment throughout the department at a cost of $46,631.04 using the Fort Worth price agreement.

The Fire Department also recommends the purchase of the LifePak 15 defibrillator from sole source vendor Medtronics/Physio-Control of Redmond, WA at a cost of $37,359.88. The purchase of the LifePak 15 is necessary in keeping with the continuity of equipment throughout the department.
