Analysis
N. Grand Peninsula Boulevard and S. Grand Peninsula Boulevard is a continuous loop from Lake Ridge Parkway to Lake Ridge Parkway.
Accepted traffic engineering principals recommend that speed limits be established by engineering analysis and roadway design. The 85th percentile speed is used in establishing responsible and prudent speed limits in rural and developed areas. Based on the design characteristics, the level of adjacent developments, and the 85th percentile speed recorded, staff recommends amending Schedule II of the traffic register. The attached ordinance establishes the following speed limits:
40 mph at all times for: N. Grand Peninsula Boulevard -
From Lake Ridge Parkway to England Parkway
40 mph at all times for: S. Grand Peninsula Boulevard -
From England Parkway to Lake Ridge Parkway
Financial Consideration
The cost to furnish and install the necessary signs is absorbed by the City Streets Department/ Signs and Markings Division.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AMENDING SCHEDULE II OF THE TRAFFIC REGISTER TO ESTABLISHING MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS GREATER THAN 30 MPH; 40 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON N. GRAND PENINSULA BOULEVARD AND S. GRAND PENINSULA BOULEVARD; AS REQUIRED BY SECTION 545.356 OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES; CREATING AN OFFENSE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND TO BECOME EFFECTIVE UPON ITS PASSAGE, APPROVAL AND PUBLICATION
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT Schedule II Establish Maximum Speed Limits Greater than 35 mph shall be amended by adding the following:

SECTION 2. THAT this section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this ordinance
is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by any court or competent jurisdiction, such shall be
deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of
the remaining portions thereof.
SECTION 3. THAT all ordinances or part of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. THAT this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication.
