Analysis
Our financial system software requires a substantial upgrade and we are pushing more of the project into the current year so that our Finance, Budget, and Human Resource staff will have adequate time to test the new system before we “go-live” in February 2016. The upgrade for the Lawson version 10 licensing is $50,000.
In the Public Safety Building, our police interview rooms have an urgent need for better quality cameras in order to meet the needs of evidence. We upgraded the detention area systems in the current year with a newer system to meet the needs of safety and security for employees and we would expand that system into the interview rooms. Total cost is $30,000.
With the ever-expanding reliance on technology to extend the efficiency of city staff, we have more current needs to repair or replace equipment to keep our staff serving the needs of our residents and businesses. Total cost of this request is $50,000.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the Lawson version 10 Upgrade, Video Cameras for the Public Safety Building and to replace computer equipment for a total amount of $130,000 is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating from salary savings in the General Fund (1001) to the IT Acquisition Fund (4040).

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE FY 2014/2015 IT ACQUISITION FUND BUDGET BY TRANSFERRING AND APPROPRIATING $130,000 FROM SALARY SAVINGS IN THE GENERAL FUND (1001) TO THE IT ACQUISITION FUND (4040) FOR SOFTWARE UPGRADE, VIDEO CAMERAS AND REPLACE COMPUTER EQUIPMENT
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE FY 2014/2015 IT Acquisition Fund be amended by transferring and appropriating $130,000 from salary savings in the General Fund (1001) to the IT Acquisition Fund (4040) for Lawson version 10 Upgrade, Video Cameras for the Public Safety Building and to replace computer equipment.
