Analysis
The Park Board received a recommendation from the Park Board Park Naming Committee at their June 26, 2019 official meeting regarding a request to officially rename the Charley Taylor Baseball Fields to the Danny Boykin Baseball Fields.
The Park Board unanimously approved a recommendation to submit this request to the City Council consideration and approval at the June 26, 2019 Park Board meeting.
Financial Consideration
The cost for replacement of the exterior plaque is under review and will be funded through existing appropriations.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, RENAMING THE CHARLEY TAYLOR BASEBALL FIELDS TO THE DANNY BOYKIN BASEBALL FIELDS.
WHEREAS, Danny Boykin is a native Grand Prairie, who grew up at the Crockett Recreation Center also known today as the Charley Taylor Recreation Center;
WHEREAS, Danny Boykin, was hired to work at the recreation centers and used his money to put himself through school at Texas A&M University majoring in the Parks and Recreation. His talents were recognized through the ranks, until he achieved the title of Senior Recreation Superintendent;
WHEREAS, Danny Boykin, pursued excellence in his field through professional organization such as Texas Recreation, Parks Society and Texas Amateur Athletics Association and especially the Special Olympics where he volunteer his time for over 25 years;
WHEREAS, Danny Boykin, changed the City of Grand Prairie by making life-changing contributions to the youth of the recreation centers for over 38 years; and
WHEREAS, the Grand Prairie Park Board made a recommendation to the City Council to approve the request for renaming the Charley Taylor Baseball Fields to the Danny Boykin Baseball Fields.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas that:
The City Council officially renames the Charley Taylor Baseball Fields to the Danny Boykin Baseball Fields.
