Analysis
On Tuesday, December 1, 2015 the City of Grand Prairie awarded a professional services contract to Salcedo Group, Inc. in the amount of $38,960 for a feasibility study to determine preferred locations and culvert sizes for a drainage relief system across Oakdale Road between Belt Line Road and SH 161. During the storms of 2010 drainage backed up to the north behind Oakdale Road creating flooding and traffic problems on Belt Line Road at Oakdale Road. The Salcedo Group has recommended three optimum culvert locations for placement of the box culverts along Oakdale Road for flood relief consisting of four 4’ by 4’ reinforced concrete box culverts at each location.
The current proposed contract proposed Amendment No. 2 will provide the additional professional services to bid and construct the proposed drainage culvert improvements.
Contract Amendment No. 1 approved on December 2, 2017 for $10,770 was to prepare the design plans for the proposed drainage culvert improvements.
This project will provide construction plans for the construction of four 4-foot by 4-foot box shaped reinforced culverts across Oakdale Road at three locations: approximately 335 feet, 755 feet and 3,780 feet west of the centerline of Belt Line Road.
Construction of this project is scheduled to begin around March 2017 with projected completion around August 2017.
