On Wednesday, July 12, 2017 the City of Grand Prairie opened bids for Drainage Improvements (#Y1118): Section 1-Cottonwood Creek Culvert Improvements at Great Southwest Parkway, Section 2 Oakdale Road Culvert Improvements. The low bidder is McMahon Contracting, L.P. in the Base Bid amount of $1,320,917.08 for total bid amount of $1,320,917.08.
This project was identified as part of the FY17 Capital Projects Budget and Capital Projects Plan for Proposed Storm Drainage Improvements to alleviate flooding. The project consists of two location for Drainage Improvements (#Y1118):
Section 1: Cottonwood Creek Culvert Improvements at Great Southwest Parkway. The drainage improvements at this location is part of the city wide master drainage plan for the Cottonwood Creek watershed and will provides for 100-year flood culvert improvements along the Great Southwest Parkway crossing at South Fork Cottonwood Creek. This project provides for the construction of two additional 11 foot by 9 foot storm drainage box culvert barrels and inlet upsizing on Great Southwest Parkway to reduce flood backwater upstream of the South Fork Cottonwood Creek crossing. The relocation of an 16 inch water line and 12 inch wastewater line relocations and other miscellaneous items are necessary to complete this project.
Section 2: Oakdale Road Culvert Improvements. The drainage improvements at this location will reduce flooding in this area and is intended to keep Beltline Road passable during the high flows. This project provides for the installation of multiple box culvert at three locations along Oakdale Road between SH 161 and Belt Line Road to provide drainage through Oakdale Road between the floodplains of Bear Creek and West Fork Trinity River. The drainage improvements along Oakdale road is comprised of two location with four 4 foot wide by 4 foot high reinforced concrete box culverts, headwalls at each of the two locations, with the third location along Oakdale Road with four 6 foot wide by 3 foot high reinforced concrete box culverts, concrete headwalls and aprons, rock rip rap channel lining,
Bids were opened on July 12th for this project and a total of three bids were received:

SECTION 1. THAT THE FY 2016/2017 Capital Improvement Projects Budget be amended by transferring and appropriating $477,893 from the unobligated fund balance in the Storm Drainage Capital Projects Fund (401592) WO #01204601-03 (Pioneer/GSW Pkwy @ Cottonwood)
SECTION 2. THAT THE FY 2016/2017 Capital Improvement Projects Budget by amended by transferring and appropriating $393,396 from the unobligated fund balance in the Storm Drainage Capital Projects Fund (401592) WO #01304703 (Oakdale Culvert Improvements)
