Analysis
In September 2017, the City submitted and was awarded a matching acquisition and development grant in the amount of $500,000 from the Texas Parks and Wildlife.
The 68.731 acre tract was part of a former Great Southwest Country Club and has natural features including mature shade trees, existing ponds, a portion of Johnson Creek and riparian and native woodlands. The unique characteristics of this site scored highly with Texas Parks and Wildlife criteria. The developer committed to donate the property which will serve as a portion of the City's local matching share for grant application.
On July 22, 2018, the Purchasing Division advertised through an RFQ# 18117 for consultants to provide professional landscape architectural services.
