Analysis
Approximately one year ago we experienced Storm Drain failure due to a pipe separation under the street. This was accidentally found when Parks & Recreation was performing grounds maintenance and the mower fell into a hole created by the pipe separation. The Storm Drainage failure is locate at NE 5th Street and East Tarrant Road.
The Culvert Rehabilitation project consists of selective demolition, erosion protection, grouted rip rap, paving, culvert construction, headwall construction, guardrail installation, earthwork and vegetation.
On February 7, 2017 City Council (17-6461) approved a contract with Nu-Way Construction in the amount of for these repairs.
The current Change Order/Amendment No. 1 allows for additional rip rap, excavation and re-compacting of soil in the amount of $24,900 (Exhibit A).
This request will go before the Finance and Government Committee for review on July 18, 2017.
Financial Consideration
Funding in the amount of $24,900 for Culvert Rehabilitation is available as follows:
1. $15,052 is available in Street Capital Project Fund (400192) WO #01707703 (FY17 City Bridges) on current contract 17032 with Nu-Way Construction, Contingency.
2. $9,848 is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating from the unobligated fund balance in the Street Capital Project Fund (400192) to WO #01707703 (FY17 City Bridges) a culvert being a type of bridge, 68540 (Construction)

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE FY 2016/2017 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS BUDGET BY TRANSFERRING AND APPROPRIATING $9,848 FROM THE UNOBLIGATED FUND BALANCE IN THE STREET CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND (400192) TO WO# 01707703 (FY17 CITY BRIDGES), 68540 (CONSTRUCTION)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE FY 2016/2017 Capital Improvement Projects Budget be amended by transferring and appropriating $9,848 from the unobligated fund balance in the Street Capital Projects Fund (400192) to WO #01707703 (FY17 City Bridges), 68540 (Construction).
