Analysis
On Tuesday, March 22, 2016 the City of Grand Prairie awarded a professional services contract to McKim & Creed, Inc. in the amount of $379,925.00 for Master Plan Study Update, Drainage Problem Area Assessment and Neighborhood Flooding to verify existing City GPS Monuments, provide new one-foot lidar, provide citywide inundation and flow accumulation mapping, provide an Indian Hills Area and Shady Grove Area rainfall on mesh flood study, Addressing of neighborhood flooding at 7 locations and a master drainage plan study evaluation and prioritization.
The neighborhood Flooding concept design plans was for 7 locations that experienced public flooding during the 2015 rains. Conceptual drainage plans were provided these locations and funding was provided in the FY 2016/2017 for design and construction of these drainage improvements. This contract provides for professional services related to design, bidding and construction services to address the flooding at the following locations:
1. 902 West Church Street. The solution to this drainage project is to install storm drain and concurrently making pavement improvements along NW 9th Street from Church to Hill Street, for which the consultant will be providing plans intended for construction currently planned to be performed and funded by the City Street Division by reconstructing the roadway and to include the said storm drainage improvements being funded by this project.
2. 2429 Parkwood Drive,
3. 1113 Denmark Drive,
4. 1834 Wildwood Drive,
5. 637 San Pedro Drive,
6. 2326 King Richard Drive and
7. 2330 Nottingham.
Construction of this project is scheduled to begin around September 2017 with projected completion around January 2018.
Financial Consideration
Funding for Engineering and Surveying Services contract with RLG Consulting Engineers for FY17 Neighborhood Drainage Improvements in the amount of $84,261.00 plus a 5% contingency of $4,213 for a total project request of $88,474 is available in the Storm Drainage Capital Projects Fund (401592) WO #01705401 (FY17 Neighborhood Flooding Drainage Improvements) Professional Engineering Services (61041).
