Analysis
The opening of Fire Station 10 is anticipated in the summer of 2016. The purchase of an ambulance and related equipment is a planned project for FY2016 in the Fire Capital Projects Fund WO #01601303 to provide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) from Fire Station 10 to citizens and visitors of the City.
It is the Fire Department's recommendation to purchase the 2016 Ram 4500 Type I Horton Ambulance through the Buy Board price agreement from Professional Ambulance Sales & Service of Alvarado, TX at a cost of $193,178. A committee of Fire Department personnel was formed to evaluate the Horton built ambulances and have recommended the first time purchase of a Horton Type I ambulance.
Continuity of equipment throughout the department is necessary not only for the efficiency to maintain and replenish disposable supplies and replace parts but more importantly to ensure all personnel, regardless of the unit they are responding from, has complete knowledge and familiarity with the equipment. The Fire Department's recommendation is to purchase a Medtronics/Physio-Control LP15 defibrillator and Stryker Power Pro Cot and Power Load System. Related tools to equip the ambulance are as follows:
$37,359.87 Defibrillator from sole source vendor Medtronics/Physio-Control
$42,475.24 Power Pro Cot & Power Load System from sole source vendor Stryker
$3,100 Loose equipment includes cables, connectors, docking station installation, power supply, snow chains, seat covers, containers, keysafe, flashlight
