Analysis

These vehicles will either replace existing vehicles in the fleet or add to the fleet according to the city replacement schedule. The purchase of the vehicles were included in the FY 2016/2017 Approved Operating Budgets and include the following:

 

                     twelve (12) PPV Tahoe's will be replacing 2005-2013 Tahoe/Crown Victoria's for Police;

                     seven (7) PPV Tahoe's will be improvements for Police;

                     two (2) 1/2 ton extended cab pickups will be replacing two (2) 1999-2002 pickups for Planning;

                     three (3) 1 ton van with KUV utility body will be replacing three (3) 1997-2002 van/pickups for Facility Services;

                     one (1) 3/4 ton utility body pickup will be replacing one (1) 2008 pickup for Parks and Recreation;

                     three (3) 3/4 ton utility body pickup will be replacing two (2) 1995-2008 pickups for Water Distribution and adding (1) 3/4 ton utility body pickup as an improvement for Water Distribution;

                     one (1) 3/4 ton utility body pickup will be replacing one (1) 2003 pickup for Environmental Services.

 

 

Notice of bid #17004 for nineteen (19) Tahoe PPV's was advertised and viewed by 19 vendors.  There were two (2) Grand Prairie vendors notified of this bid. Two (2) bids were received, zero from a Grand Prairie vendor.  Bids were opened October 18, 2016, see Exhibit A for results. The low bid received from Freedom Dodge and Chevrolet ($615,100) meets specifications and is recommended for award. 

 

Notice of bid #17005 for two (2) 1/2 ton extended cab pickups was advertised and viewed by 15 vendors.  There were two (2) Grand Prairie vendors notified of this bid. Five (5) bids were received, zero from a Grand Prairie vendor.  Bids were opened October 18, 2016, see Exhibit A for results.  The low bid received from Grapevine DJC, LLC ($46,906) meets specifications and is recommended for award. 

 

Notice of bid #17006 for three (3) 1 ton vans with KUV utility bodies was advertised and viewed by 17 vendors.  There were (2) Grand Prairie vendors notified of this bid.  Four (4) bids were received, none from a Grand Prairie vendor.  Bids were opened October 18, 2016, see Exhibit A for results.  The low bid received from Caldwell Country Chevrolet in the amount of ($112,635) meets specifications and is recommended for award.

 

Notice of bid #17007 for four (4) 3/4 ton utility body pickups and one (1) 3/4 ton 4x4 utility body pickup was advertised and viewed by 14 vendors.  There were two (2) Grand Prairie vendors notified of this bid.  Five (5) bids were received, none from a Grand Prairie vendor.  Bids were opened October 18, 2016, see Exhibit A for results.  The low bid received from Freedom Dodge and Chevrolet ($142,400) meets specifications and is recommended for award.

 

Financial Consideration

Funding for the vehicles in the amount of $917,041 is budgeted as follows:

 

1.                     $390,000 in General Fund (283210-68320) Police;

2.                     $225,100 in Crime Tax Fund (286110-68320) Police;

3.                     $46,906 in General Fund (231410-68320) Planning;

4.   $112,635 in Equipment Acq Fund (224010-68320) Facility Services;

      5.   $27,475 in Park Venue General Fund (312610-68320) Parks;

      6.   $82,425 in Water Wastewater Fund (361211-68320) WWW;

      7.   $32,500 in Water Wastewater Fund (303010-68320) Environmental Services.
