Analysis
This project was identified as part of the FY19 Capital Improvement Projects Budget. The Drainage Improvements 1800-2200 North Carrier Parkway project addresses flooding problems on this section of North Carrier Parkway by providing a 10-year capacity storm drainage system in advance of the upcoming Carrier Parkway paving rehabilitation improvements.
This project replaces the existing undersized 48 inch and 42 inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe storm drains with 5 foot by 4 foot and 8 foot by 5 foot reinforced concrete box storm drains and replaces the existing 18 inch and 24 inch storm drains in Carrier Parkway with 24 inch reinforced concrete pipe to 5 foot by 3 foot reinforced concrete box storm drains with junction box structures and concrete interception channel with 16 inlets. Four bids were received for this project:
The City of Grand Prairie advertised and on May 19, 2019 received four (4) bids for Drainage Improvements 1800-2200 North Carrier Parkway, WO #01905603. The bids were checked for errors and omissions and no errors were found.

Based on Consultant recommendation, Staff also recommends that this project be awarded to SYB Construction Company, Inc in the amount of $898,656.84.
Construction of this project is scheduled to begin in July 2019 with projected completion in November 2019.
Financial Consideration
Funding in the total amount of $1,013,183 is available as follows:
1. $910,373 is available in the Storm Drainage Capital Projects Fund (401592), WO #01905603 (Carrier Parkway Improvements (Phase I from I-30 to SH 161))
2. $102,810 is available in the Street Capital Projects Fund (400192) WO #01907903 (Carrier Parkway Improvements (Phase I from I30 to SH 161)
