Analysis
The purchase of replacement fire engines (4), air truck (1) and brush truck (1) along with related make ready, tools and equipment is a planned purchase for FY 2018. The cost for the replacements units is $3,472,752 before discounts totaling $124,511 for prepayment, multi-truck and dealer discounts through the Buy Board price agreement from Siddons-Martin of Denton, TX. Total cost for all six (6) units and related equipment to outfit the new units is $3,605,439.

Three of the four engines to be traded-in for a total of $32,000 to be used as credit towards changes, unpublished options, equipment and upgrades during the build and inspection processes. The brush truck will be placed as a reserve unit. The air truck is a specialized unit and is being further evaluated to determine if selling, auctioning or another method would be in the best interest of the City.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the purchase and prepayment of four fire engines and related equipment is available in Fire Capital Projects Fund (400591) WO #01800803 (FY18 Engine Replacement) $2,906,868; one brush truck and one air truck and related equipment in WO #01801003 (FY18 Brush 6, Air 1) $698,571.
