Analysis
On September 5, 2018 the City awarded a construction contract to North Rock Construction, LLC in the amount of $673,836, with a contingency of $33,692, for a total project cost of $707,528. This project provided for the rehabilitation of two bridges over Fish Creek located at South Great Southwest Parkway over Fish Creek and South Robinson Road over Fish Creek.
Proposed Amendment/Change order No. 3 in the amount of $47,889.47 provided for final quantities reconciliation due upon project completion.
Amendment/Change order No. 2 in the amount of $9,547.20 provided for additional traffic rail, concrete flume, and removal of existing sidewalk at the South Robinson Road over Fish Creek location.
Amendment/Change order No. 1 in the amount of $19,661.60 provided for additional concrete work needed for the South Robinson Road over Fish Creek location.
Project completion date was May 3, 2019.
State statutes require City Council approval of a change order when the cumulative cost of this change order exceeds $50,000. Also, the City, as an owner, reserves the right to increase the amount of the work to be performed in a given construction contract by an amount not to exceed twenty-five (25%) percent of the original bid. With approval of the current amendment/change order, the percent of original bid will be 11.44%. The cumulative amounts of Amendment/Change order No. 1 ($19,661.60), Amendment/Change order No. 2 ($9,547.20) and current Amendment/Change order No. 3 ($43,406.27) is $72,615.07 which required Council approval.
Financial Consideration
Funding for Amendment/Change order No. 3 with North Rock Construction, LLC, in the amount of $47,890, is available as follows:
1. $4,483 is available in the Street Capital Fund (400192), WO #01909103 (FY19 Bridge Repair) Street Maintenance (63030) PO# 344881 Contingency Line 2.
2. $43,407 is available in unexpended appropriation of Street Capital Fund (400192), WO #01909103 (FY19 Bridge Repair) Street Maintenance (63030).
