On Tuesday, August 1, 2017 the City of Grand Prairie awarded a construction contract to McMahon Contracting, L.P. in the amount of $1,320,917.08 for drainage improvements Section 1-Cottonwood Creek Culvert Improvements at Great Southwest Parkway and Section 2 Oakdale Road Culvert Improvements.
This proposed amendment/change order No. 4 will increase the contract by adding a new Section 3 to the contract for storm drainage improvements at Marshall Drive, Avenue E and Cannon Branch to enclose the existing hazardous ditch adjoining the road and provide a stabilized culvert drainage intake for the recently completed emergency Marshall Drive pavement failure and storm drain repairs contract. Eighty one linear feet of 72 inch reinforced concrete pipe will be installed from Avenue E to Marshall Drive with a 9.65 wide by 8.65 long reinforced concrete junction box installed to join the 72 inch pipe with the newly completed Marshall drive culvert pipe. Eighteen linear feet of 42 inch reinforced concrete pipe and a 5 foot by 5 foot Y-inlet will be installed to maintain the local drainage and 56 linear feet of five-foot wide concrete drainage fume and 12 inch grouted rock riprap will be installed on the south side of Marshall Drive to stabilize the channel slopes and bottom and transition the drainage to the lower Marshall Drive culvert crossing. The total change order amount is $122,667.95 for a revised contract amount of $1,307,577.18.
Change order #1 was approved on October 20, 2017 in the amount of $23,722.40 for 24-inch drill shafts and counter support work for a revised contract amount of $1,344,639.48.
Change order #2 was approved on October 20, 2017 in the amount of $600.00 for additional traffic control signage at the request of the businesses along Great Southwest Parkway for a revised contract amount of $1,345,329.48.
Change order #3 was approved on November 7, 2017 in the contract reduction amount of $160,330.25 for deletion of the contract 16” water line relocation and deletion of temporary asphalt pavement widening for detours for a revised contract amount of $1,184,909.23.
Construction completion of the project is extended to September 22, 2018.
Financial Consideration
Funding for Amendment/Change Order No. 4 with McMahon Contracting, L.P.in the total amount of $122,668 is available in Storm Drainage Capital Projects Fund (401592) WO #01204601-03 (Pioneer/GSW Pkwy @ Cottonwood) PO242822 contingency Line 2.
