Analysis
Proposals were requested for design and development of an art sculpture for the fourth component of the artwalk surrounding the Veterans Memorial. Notice of RFP #16045 was advertised in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Bidsync, and distributed to 16 vendors. A total of 5 submittals were received from professional artists for the project. The submittals were evaluated by the Artist Selection Committee composed of members of the Grand Prairie Veterans organizations. The committee unanimously recommended David Alan Clark Sculpture, based on his previous public commissioned work and the concept design proposed in reference to the theme "Remembrance".
The recommended finalist submitted a proposal of $100,000 for the design, fabrication, casting, delivery and installation of the bronze sculpture at Veterans Memorial. The overall project is estimated to take nine months for product and installation.
This project was presented to and approved by the Finance and Government Committee on August 2, 2016.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the Veterans Memorial Art Project is available from the Sports Corp donation and requires an ordinance transferring and appropriating $100,000 to the Park Capital Projects Fund (317193), WO #01505703 (Veterans Memorial Art Project).

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE FY 2015/2016 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECTS BUDGET BY TRANSFERRING AND APPROPRIATING $100,000 FROM THE SPORTS CORP DONATION PARK CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND (317193) TO WO #01505703 (VETERANS MEMORIAL ART PROJECT)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT, the FY 2015/2016 Capital Improvements Budget be amended by transferring and appropriating $100,000 from the Sports Corp Donation to the Park Capital Projects Fund (317193), WO #01505703 (Veterans Memorial Art Project).
