Analysis

SouthGate Constructors is submitting this utility adjustment agreement for utilities owned by the City of Grand Prairie located within the Midtown Express Project corridor. Due to the expansion of Airport freeway (S.H. 183) TxDot is requiring that approximately 2,000 LF of Grand Prairie's 36" Dallas North Supply line be relocated out of the TxDot right-of-way.  This would normally have been at our sole expense but due to special policy applying to this project, TxDot is only requiring that we pay 50% of the costs. TxDot's contractor, SouthGate Constructors will be doing the work which was designed by our Water Master Plan Engineers, Freese & Nichols.

SouthGate Constructors will conduct the necessary pre-construction meetings to address safety and environmental issues prior to performing any adjustment related activities on the Project.  All safety, traffic control, and environmental issues will be complied with during construction activities in the vicinity of the line to maintain the integrity of the Grand Prairie facilities, and protect the traveling public.

Upon execution of this Agreement by SouthGate Constructors and the City of Grand Prairie, SouthGate will submit this Agreement, together with plans, to TxDOT for its review and approval as part of the Utility Adjustment Agreement.

Financial Consideration

SouthGate Constructors will be responsible for the expense of construction until complete. After completion, the City of Grand Prairie and TxDOT will be billed equally of the total cost.

These estimated cost to the City will be approximately $738,529(one-half of the total project estimated cost). This is payable after acceptance of the project during FY 16 and will be paid from future FY 2015/2016 capital improvement funds.  As with any project, the final cost may vary from the estimate.
