Analysis

On November 3, 2015 council approved agenda item 15-5098 authorizing the refurbish and remount of two Frazer Type I ambulances. These were the first two ambulances the City would refurbish then remount on a new cab and chassis.

The trade-in credit per unit was $3,000. Jayson Ramirez with Equipment Services is anticipating a better return by selling the old cab and chassis and is recommending retention of the unit not yet traded in. Equipment Services' estimate for selling the old cab and chassis is $10,000 - $12,000 for a difference of $7,000 - $9,000 when compared to trading in. The revenue realized from the sale will result in a offset for the trade-in and upgrade to lighting at an estimated net $1,700 - $3,700.

Financial Consideration

Funding for the trade-in and upgrade to lighting at a total cost of $8,300 is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating from the unobligated fund balance in the Fire Capital Projects Fund (400591) to WO #01601403 (FY16 Ambulance Replacement).
