Analysis

The Ruthe Jackson Center remodel will include removing existing wall paper, removing existing sound proofing wall panels, prepping and painting of walls and wood work; furnish and installing 149 total custom sound proof panels, prep and installation of  Hufcor acoustic carpet panel covering; furnish and install custom fabricated drapery for the Banquet room. Prep and paint previously painted wall surfaces, drywall and ceiling tiles above water fountain, and painted doors and frames in the foyer. Cost will also include hauling and disposal of debris and final cleanup. Total for the RJC Banquet and front foyer remodel is $286,573.

 

Chapter 271.102 of the Local Government Code authorizes local governments to participate in a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or local cooperative organization. In lieu of competitive bidding, items and services may be purchased through such agreements as the agreements have already been bid by the sponsoring entity or agency.  The City of Grand Prairie has master inter-local cooperative agreements with various entities including U.S. Communities.

Home Depot Renovation Services through their U.S. Communities Contract # 16154 has a 5 year initial term, beginning February 1, 2017 - ending December 31, 2021 with the option to renew for (5) additional (1) year periods.

 

This item was presented to the Finance and Government Committee on November 7th, 2017 and received recommendation for approval by the City Council.

 

Financial Consideration

Funding for Ruthe Jackson Center remodel in the amount of $286,573 is available in Parks Capital Projects Fund (317193) WO #01803203 in account 68540 (Construction).
