This request is being initiated by Lockheed Martin to honor the years of service of a retiring supervisor.
The street is privately owned. No properties are addressed off of it. Consequently, no addresses will need to be changed. Renaming the street will have little to no impact on the provision of emergency services.
Lockheed Martin is the only property owner within the 300 ft. buffer of the street; no property owner notifications were required to be sent.
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATION:
No impact on City funds is anticipated by this request. The street is privately owned and Lockheed Martin is responsible for sign fabrication.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, RENAMING MUSSELMAN DRIVE TO BERRY DRIVE, A PRIVATE STREET IN THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, SITUATED WEST OF STATE HIGHWAY 161 AND SOUTH OF W. MARSHALL DRIVE BEING ASSIGNED A NEW NAME OF BERRY DRIVE, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, there exists in the City of Grand Prairie, Texas a private street named Musselman Drive, situated west of State Highway 161 and south of W. Marshall Drive as depicted on the attached Exhibit "A" incorporated herein by reference; and
WHEREAS, the depicted Musselman Drive is situated west of State Highway 161, and that this herein described street name change does not encompass nor affect any named segment State Highway 161 and W. Marshall Drive; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grand Prairie, Texas has received a request from Lockheed Martin to rename the above described Musselman Drive to Berry Drive.
WHEREAS, the above described Musselman Drive, as shown on the attached Exhibit "A", is recommended to be renamed to Berry Drive in order to honor the years of service of a retiring supervisor; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing to be held by the City Council of the City of Grand Prairie, Texas, in the City Hall Plaza Building at 6:30 o'clock P.M. on December 11, 2012 to consider the adoption of an ordinance implementing the street name change.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS
SECTION 1: That Musselman Drive, a private street in the City of Grand Prairie, Texas, situated west of State Highway 161 and south of W. Marshall Drive, shall be assigned a new name of Berry Drive.
SECTION 2: That the maps, traffic register and affected street signs of the City of Grand Prairie be changed to reflect the new street name.
SECTION 3: That the City Manager shall direct city staff to communicate this ordinance to the U.S. Postal Service and other agencies to effect the street name change to their respective records.
SECTION 4: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
