Analysis
The abandonment applicant and property owner, SAIA Motor Freight Line, LLC, a Louisiana limited liability company, has requested the abandonment of a fifteen-foot general utility easement (see aerial location as Exhibit “B”). All public utility companies have agreed to the abandonment. SAIA has a planned demolition and rebuild of the southern wing of their building. The existing fifteen-foot general utility must be abandoned as required by the City.
The existing water main which was located in this easement has already been abandoned and physically removed. Just the platted easement must be officially abandoned which contains 0.143 acre of land (see Exhibit “A” for legal description of easement).
Staff has reviewed the requested abandonment recommends the abandonment.
