Analysis
SH 180 (Main Street) is currently operated and maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). All development within the corridor requires coordination and approval of TxDOT.
The City of Grand Prairie is in the process of a downtown revitalization program. The program will involve intensive modifications to Main Street which currently must be approved by TxDOT in accordance the TxDOT rules and regulations. The City desires for TxDOT to remove SH 180 from FM 1382 (Belt Line) to SH 161 from the State Highway System.
Financial Consideration
There is no immediate cost to the City of Grand Prairie. However there will be maintenance cost which will be absorbed by the Street Maintenance Budget.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF SH 180 (MAIN STREET) FROM FM 1380 (BELT LINE ROAD) TO SH 161 AND REQUEST THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (TxDOT) TO REMOVE THIS SECTION OF SH 180 FROM THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM
Whereas, in order to have more local control over Main Street and to be able to develop and implement infrastructure projects, it is necessary for the City of Grand Prairie to request State Highway 180 (Main Street) from FM 1382 (Belt Line Road) to SH 161 in Grand Prairie be removed from the State Highway System; and,
Whereas, the City of Grand Prairie now desires to perform public improvements; and
