Analysis

The contract is for the purchase of Traffic Paint and Glass Traffic Beads which are to be used in the striping and pavement markings of roadways and crosswalks throughout the city.

Notice of bid #16007 was viewed by 34 vendors.  There were two Grand Prairie vendors available for this commodity.  A total of eight bids were received as shown on Attachment A.  The Grand Prairie submittals were not within the 5% allowed by law for local preference.

Staff recommends awarding the traffic paint to Ennis Paint, Inc. and the glass beads to Swarco Reflex, Inc.  The split award will save approximately $1,300 dollars annually.  They both meet all required specifications.

Financial Consideration

Funding is available in FY 2015/2016 General Fund budget 251910-63115 for Signs/Markings Maintenance and will be charged accordingly on orders through the end of the fiscal year.  Funding for future fiscal years will be paid from that year's approved budget.
