Analysis
On Wednesday, November 28, 2012, the City of Grand Prairie opened bids for the FY 2011/2012 I&I Replacements project. The apparent low bidder is Barson Utilities, Inc. with a base bid of $1,255,014. The FY 2011/2012 I&I Replacement project provides for the replacement of existing wastewater systems within the City of Grand Prairie. The FY 2011/2012 I&I Replacement project requires approximately 333LF of 21” Wastewater main by open cut, 533 LF of wastewater main by open cut, 1,507 LF of 12” wastewater main by open cut, 1,682 LF of 12” wastewater main by other than open cut, 121 LF of 10” wastewater main by open cut, 3,240 LF of 8” wastewater main by open cut, 703 LF of 8” wastewater main by other than open cut, 210 LF of 6” wastewater main by cured in place method along with approximately 580 LF of concrete encasement of proposed wastewater mains. Additionally, the installation of 26 new 4’ diameter wastewater manholes, 13 new 5’ diameter wastewater manholes, approximately 27 VF of 4’ diameter wastewater manhole extra depth, 97 VF of 5’ diameter wastewater manhole extra depth, 32 VF of existing wastewater manhole rehabilitation and 6 existing wastewater manhole removals. Also included in the project is approximately 1,840 SY of pavement replacement due to utility construction, 391 SY of reinforced concrete sidewalk removal and replacement and 7,084 SY of Bermuda grass sod.
