Analysis
On April 13, 2017, the Regional Transportation Council (RTC) approved funding for implementation of the Automated Vehicle Program, including implementation of the 511DFW/WAZE Data Sharing Program.
The City of Grand Prairie submitted an application to the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), and was selected as part of the 511DFW/WAZE Data Sharing Program participants. The Interlocal Agreement with NCTCOG is necessary for implementation of this project.
This project will provide an opportunity for the City of Grand Prairie to improve regional mobility by providing traffic data to 511DFW and Waze. Citywide road closures, special event information, and traffic hazards can be provided to 511 DFW and Waze as part of this program.
The estimated project cost is $25,000, to be paid by the City and 100% reimbursed by NCTCOG upon completion. The City will be responsible for cost overruns.
Financial Consideration
Project costs of $25,000 and reimbursements from NCTCOG will be accounted for in the City's Grant Fund (300592) 11517031 (511DFW/WAZE Data Sharing Program).
