On April 21, 2006, the City Council awarded an engineering contract for MacArthur Boulevard widening from I-30 to Irving, in the amount of $440,800 to Birkhoff, Hendricks and Carter, L.L.P. Consulting Engineers.
In mid 2011, funding of the MacArthur Road Widening project was changed from the Federally Funded Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to the locally funded North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG).
The proposed Consultant Amendment No. 8 in the amount of $72,541.14 provides for exploratory excavation and material testing of the proposed by-pass channel area along West Fork of Trinity River to identify the fill material and along the river bank adjacent to MacArthur Blvd.; it also provides for slope stability analysis along MacArthur Blvd, floodplain assistance to include letter of map revision (LOMR) and preparation of value engineering analysis and other project related items of work.
Contract Amendment No. 1 in the amount of $100,025, occurred during the schematic design phase of the project. City Staff determined that improvements to be made along MacArthur Boulevard from I-30 to Irving would impact the existing 100 year water surface elevation of the Trinity River floodway and flood plain and that these improvements needed to be analyzed by a hydraulics engineer. City staff concluded that the following hydraulic information was needed to be obtained: hydraulic data collection and field reconnaissance, hydraulic model analysis, generation of a flood plain/floodway report, and a bridge scour Report.
