Analysis
The abandonment applicant, John W. White, Jr., has requested the abandonment of only 2-feet of the platted 10-foot utility easement (see aerial as exhibit “B”). All public utility companies have agreed to the abandonment of only 2-feet. A swimming pool was installed in 2007 and encroaches into the utility easement. Mr. White is in the processing of selling his house and the title company has required abandonment of the easement as a condition of completing the sale.

Staff has reviewed the requested abandonment and finds that the abandonment of the first 2.0 feet of the 10.0-foot easement will not hinder drainage or utilities in the area. All pre-existing drainage patterns will be maintained.
