Analysis
Chapter 67 "Canvassing Elections," of the Texas Election Code states that the local canvass shall take place not earlier than the eighth day or later than the 11th day after the election. The last day to canvass the votes of the May 6, 2017 election is May 18, 2017.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, CANVASSING AND DELCARING THE RESULTS OF THE MAY 6, 2017 GENERAL ELECTION FOR PROPOSITION NUMBER ONE, REAUTHORIZATION OF A LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX FOR MAINTENANCE3 AND REPAIR OF MUNICIPAL STREETS; COUNCIL MEMBER, DISTRICT ONE; COUNCIL MEMBER, DISTRICT THREE; AND COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE 7 AT LARGE

Whereas, on the 6th day of May, 2017 a General Election and a Special Election were held in the City of Grand Prairie, Texas, for the reauthorization of a local sales and use tax at the rate of one-fourth of one percent for maintenance and repair of municipal streets; Council Member, District One; Council Member, District Three; and Council Member, Place 7 at large; and

Whereas, such election was duly held and propert return of results made by those officials charged with the responsibility of holding such election; and

Whereas, the City Council in open session has canvasses such votes and determined that all returns are in proper order and the election correctly conducted;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas that:

Section 1. That the results of the special election for Proposition One for the reauthorization of a local sales and use tax at the rate of one-fourth of one percent for maintenance and repair of municipal streets are as follows:
