Analysis
City Contract No. 17038 for Zoetis Pharmaceuticals, a sole source provider of Antisedan, Dexdomitor, Covenia, and Cerenia, was executed on March 6, 2017 to provide up to $9,000 in veterinarian pharmaceuticals to the Animal Services division. This contract was for an initial term of one year with four additional one-year renewals available. In December of 2017 a change order was approved by Council increasing the contract value to $15,000 due to an underestimated annual usage.
Upon completion of the additional Prairie Paws veterinarian clinic, the City is more than doubling the number of animals requiring these medications thus City Staff recommends a change order to accommodate an increased usage of the drugs estimated to surpass the contract value in future terms.
