Analysis
The Grand Prairie Police Department’s Auto Theft unit conducts a vigorous bait car program that has received national media attention. This program utilizes vehicles that have been equipped and modified with audio/video surveillance technology that can be remotely monitored. The results of this effort often reap the benefits of the apprehension of offenders and the incalculable reduction of “opportunity” driven auto theft crimes.
Due to the success rate of the bait car program, the Auto Theft unit is increasing the number of bait vehicles and equipment to introduce previously unseen vehicles and to extend its geographical coverage. CovertTrack GPS trackers and bait car equipment, which is only available directly from CovertTrack Group, Inc., has been used successfully for several years and maintains a proven service record.
