Analysis
On May 19, 2015, the City of Grand Prairie awarded a construction contract to SYB Construction in the amount of $548,527.70 and approved a 5% contingency of $27,426.00 for a total of $575,953.70 for the wastewater replacements construction project.

SYB Construction has now substantially completed work at all six locations included in this construction contract. Change order/amendment No. 5 in the net amount of $14,860.00 provides for the following:

An additional $7,500 for investigation of possible additional sewer services and connections to the City wastewater system at the Dallas St. location.
An additional $9,440 for concrete pavement with asphalt overlay pavement repairs, concrete sidewalk repairs, and hydromulch surface restoration at the W. Main St. location.
A credit of $2,080 dollars for asphalt pavement repairs at the W. Main St. location, as we were unaware at the time of bidding that this pavement was in fact concrete pavement with an asphalt overlay.

Change order/amendment No. 1 was in the net amount of $16,879.00 for addition and deletion of items based upon different conditions encountered during the course of construction at the Austrian Way, Graham Street, Dallas Street, NW 23rd Street, and Marshall Drive.

Change order/amendment No. 2 was in the net amount of $66,590.00 for additional construction costs due to the re-design and subsequent lowering of the proposed wastewater line because of unforeseen existing utility conflicts encountered during construction at the Marshall Drive/Belt Line Road location.
